Muscat – An exhibition of antique furniture from around Europe will open in the Nizwa room of The Chedi Muscat on Wednesday. Put together by Rosemary Whelan, owner of Richwood Antiques in Muscat, the exhibition will run till March 8, a press release said.

The exhibition will feature antique furniture made of mahogany, rosewood, satinwood and walnut wood, finely carved and decorated with intricate inlays and fine brass-work. ‘I have selected some very unique pieces for this event and I’m delighted to welcome members of the public to visit the exhibition to showcase what Richwood Antiques can offer.

‘I have included a magnificent English hand-polished mahogany dining room table and chairs to seat 12 people, crafted in 1850. To my knowledge, it may be the only one of its kind for sale in Oman.

‘There are also some 19th century French mirrors gilded in 24-carat gold. Among other items is a superb French flamed mahogany double sided desk with leather top which dates back to 1880,’ Rosemary stated in the release.

It said that with over 20 years of experience in the industry, Rosemary is an affiliated member of Confédération Internationale des Negociants en Oeuvres d’Art, an international association for art and antique experts from around the world.

She will be at The Chedi between Wednesday and March 8 from 10am to 7pm
